Born in a very poor family that suffered draconian apartheid, Dr BSV Mthethwa, is a true believer in Education and Skills Development. More so he believes that education has no limitations of gender, colour, age or religion as he pursued his first junior degree when he was already working and has continued to empower himself, with MBA being the latest acquisition in May 2024 from DUT.
His passion for community empowerment is traced, way back, when he started working in a rural school as a Maths and Science educator where he was determined to end the myth excellent results were not possible in such rural school, something that turned the tide for the school’s results. He maintained an attitude of seeking to make a difference, through education empowerment, even as he was entrusted with various levels of responsibilities. When he arrived and assumed the role of Principal at KZN CET College in 2016, he found an ABET mainstream institution offering only AET programs. Being wired to make an impactful difference, he went all out to change the trajectory of KZN CET College’s PQM, by introducing the Project Management Unit (PMU). Through this PMU, the KZN CET College has transformed into an institution that now caters for QCTO accredited programmes, something that had not been there before. Through the unwavering support from W&R Seta, he has transformed KZN CET College to be never the same again, with numerous infrastructural projects completed and some still to be undertaken. His unquenchable passion for community development, has seen the College forging partnership with so many Setas, for which remote rural communities are beneficiaries. He is an activist for mass skills provisioning for better life, which he strongly believes can make a huge dent to those NEET numbers.
