Calvin Molongoana, a seasoned professional with 25 years of experience, seamlessly integrates academic expertise in Law, Project Management, and Public Management with a strong background in population and household surveys management. Beginning as a Field Organizer at the Human Science Research Council, his early career demonstrated adept navigation of diverse stakeholders.
Advancing to roles such as Chief Census Officer and Coordinator of Surveys at Statistics South Africa, Calvin garnered national exposure in census and survey coordination, refining his management skills and research knowledge. His resilience as Chief Operations Officer for Census 2001 showcased critical interventions and strategic thinking for accurate population counts.
In subsequent leadership roles, including Project Director for the Census 2011 and Census 2022, Calvin led core project work streams and engaged stakeholders from communities to political leadership. Notably, he orchestrated the automation and digital transition of key statistical outputs at Stats SA, culminating in his current role overseeing the ICT branch and spearheading the development of the first digital census in 2022.
