Ryk Lues is a Professor in Food Safety, Director of the Centre for Applied Food Sustainability and Biotechnology and holds the Research Leadership Chair in Food Safety Culture and Sustainability at the Central University of Technology, South Africa. He specialises in Food Safety Culture and has lectured, supervised, published, advised and presented extensively on food safety-related topics in scientific and social media. He has lectured and moderated widely, both locally and abroad, including the USA and Mauritius, and has initiated a number of innovation and commercialising initiatives in excess of R25m. He serves on national and international specialist, regulatory and legal advisory teams and has held a number of leadership positions in faculty and academia, including Vice-President of the South African Association of Food Science and –Technology. He has been NRF-rated since 2001.
